Peter Chouinard’s Biography
Peter Chouinard is a Senior Principal of Burkland’s CFO practice and previously served as the Managing Director of Burkland’s Consumer Group. He joined Burkland in 2019 and during his tenure has served clients as a fractional CFO and as a business, organization & M&A advisor.
For the last 30+ years, Peter has served in impactful leadership roles including CEO/President, Board Member, CFO, and Head of Corporate Strategy. He’s a seasoned startup and middle-market leader in consumer products and has leveraged his quantitative and technical skills to support a range of other verticals, including consumer technology, software, and IoT clients.
Prior to coming to Burkland, Peter was the CEO of Devine Products, an exponential growth, consumer technology, product development company for Linde AG. Devine Products’ early innovation in wine aging using pure oxygen leveraged Peter’s previous tenure in the wine industry, where he was both an entrepreneur, owning and managing his own winery (Bluxome Street Winey), and early on serving as both CFO then President of Wente Vineyards. Wente Vineyards is the country’s longest, continuously operated family-owned winery (founded 1883) and their holdings extend into hospitality, real estate, and other areas of agriculture.
Peter’s earliest career experiences were at General Mills and Foster Farms, where he was involved in finance, accounting, operations, acquisitions, due diligence, and business strategy. Peter’s foundational expertise is in finance and accounting however, he has married that quantitative skill set with a breadth of business and leadership skills that have made him adept at business strategy, solving problems, identifying opportunities, and being a strategic financial partner to the businesses he serves.
Peter received an MS in Finance from Bentley University and both an MS in Accounting and a BBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Outside of work, family and a love of wine, Peter also has a passion for learning and when time permits, teaching. Peter has been an adjunct MBA program instructor teaching corporate finance at Saint Mary’s College of California and at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
