Diego Marchioni


Diego Marchioni has over 20 years of experience as CFO and board member of early stage companies. He has a passion for helping founders and CEO’s raise capital, scale their businesses and and achieve successful exits.

Diego has over 20 years of finance leadership experience for startups and scale-stage organizations. Prior to joining Burkland, Diego was a fractional CFO working closely with entrepreneurs and investors helping them grow and profitably scale their businesses while navigating multiple rounds of financings.

With his clients, Diego is very involved in all aspects of engaging investors, negotiations, closing rounds, equity transactions, and board management. A budget-conscious executive, his experience includes effectively structuring and scaling finance operations, business planning, budgeting, reporting, and all aspects of executing M&A transactions. While many of his engagements and past clients are venture-backed technology SaaS companies, Diego also has experience in consumer products, media, and retail.

Previously Diego was CFO of venture-backed companies such as Kidrobot, a consumer brand leader in specialty licensed merchandising (sold to the NECA Group), where he engineered the acquisition of the company and managed all finance operations through a period of exceptional growth; and WildBrain (sold to TSX: WILD), an award-winning media company, where he negotiated output deals with Hollywood majors while raising multiple rounds of financing.

Diego began his career as a Senior Associate at McKinsey, and then as Investment Director at Syntek Capital, a European Venture Capital firm with a focus on media and technology.

Diego has an MBA from Profingest/Bologna Business School (Italy) and an M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics from Università di Bologna (Italy).
