His background in technology and human resources in collaboration with a passion for creating highly-engaged employees has allowed Charles to develop several outstanding people organizations.
Charles leads Burkland’s People Operations practice, delivering HR consulting to hundreds of growth companies. He has also been instrumental in leading Hacking HR’s SF Chapter, bringing thought leadership to the discussion of emerging technologies. With over 25 years of significant experience in key leadership roles at high-growth organizations, Charles has successfully reorganized entire company cultures and visions to adopt a “one team,” collaborative approach time and time again. He demonstrates expertise in all aspects of global human resources operations including employee relationship management, compliance, recruitment, compensation, workforce and succession planning, and organizational development.
Charles has extensive experience with a variety of companies ranging from start-ups to large corporations. It is in his leadership roles at these organizations that he has shown success in impacting the business positively. Through it all, he employs a strong sense of diversity and inclusion when nurturing the culture of any organization and acts as a mentor and performance coach.
In his spare time, Charles loves the outdoors and particularly long distance hiking with his dog Aslan. In the last two years, Charles has hiked the Camino Santiago trails across the countries of Spain and Portugal.
