Sara Schrage is Burkland’s Chief People Officer and Managing Director of Strategic People Operations. Prior to Burkland, Sara was Global Vice President of Splice Machine, a real-time Machine Learning and AI Solutions company. She led People Operations and Recruiting for companies including PowerReviews (acquired by Bazaarvoice), BigFix (acquired by IBM), Wrap Media, Mode Media, and Samsung. For ten years, Sara was the owner of Search Solutions Group, a full-service HR and recruiting firm that helped tech startups implement, scale, and develop critical HR programs and practices.
As Burkland’s Managing Director of Strategic People Operations, Sara leads our HR services for startups. This includes talent acquisition & onboarding, workforce strategy, engagement & retention, organization effectiveness, and other services to help startups attract and retain talent while building a solid HR foundation.
When not working with startups, Sara enjoys home improvement and is using that passion to renovate a 1922 craftsman-style bungalow. Pre-pandemic, Sara volunteered in South Africa for a month at the ORCA Foundation.
Sara received her undergraduate degree from Miami University, completed Cornell University’s Human Resource Executive program, and is SHRM-SCP, SPHR-CA and SPHR certified. She is an advisor for People Tech Partners, Startup Experts, and Bizly.
