Tony Schopen’s experience includes CFO and senior consulting roles working with a number of venture-backed startups across a variety of industries. He spent seven years in CFO and senior consulting roles, working with a number of venture-backed startups across a variety of industries. Tony’s responsibilities have included investment banking, debt negotiation, financial modeling, strategy consulting, and equity research covering SaaS/Internet companies.
Tony has developed company-wide cash and equity compensation frameworks to standardize and benchmark how compensation is used for recruiting, incentivizing, and retaining talent. He has set up foreign subsidiaries including inter-company agreements, financial consolidation processes, and tax-advantaged foreign employee stock option plans. Tony has also developed and managed sales commission plans and monthly close processes.
Tony was also an equity research analyst at Wachovia Securities and Thomas Weisel Partners covering enterprise software, SaaS, and Internet companies. He started his career as an investment banker with Bankers Trust and then became a management consultant at Mars & Co., working on strategic engagements with Fortune 100 companies. Tony has an AB (magna cum laude) in economics from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate.
