He brings over 15 years of successful and varied financial leadership experience in multi-national and high growth organizations ranging from startups to the Fortune 500. He is an expert in International Expansion, Analysis, FP&A, Accounting & Controls, Investor Relations, Fundraising, Portfolio Management, Mergers & Acquisitions, Team Scaling, Valuation, and Financial Leadership.
Prior to Burkland, Paul directed global finance teams supporting firms such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Lehman Brothers, and Y Combinator. He was a Key Advisor/CFO for several companies that received valuations in excess of 100 million USD, and one company from series seed to a valuation over 1 billion USD. He transformed financial operations of high-profile investments/venture capital companies through strategic analysis. For example, he identified a major opportunity for offshoring IP through execution of Dutch sandwich, and lead the purchase price allocation study instrumental in the transfer pricing agreement. Also, by establishing captive insurance to boost cash flow.
